Not everyone agrees with my opinions (yes, it shocked me, too). The tirades below were culled from e-mails, blog comments and forum posts I've received over time. I've posted them here for entertainment value. Be warned that I've not censored them, and as such you'll see some "colorful" language. I haven't corrected their spelling, either. Some of these folks really need to discover the wonders of proofreading.

This is a comment posted by "frelks" on my most recent article at TCV. It always amazes me how some folks can supposedly read a short & simple article and totally miss the point.

Cry me a freaking river! If Ozzy was so concerned about his reputation, he wouldn't be doing most of the things he is doing. A sheriff caught some bad guys. That is what he is paid to do. If those bad guys don't like it, let them live within the law like the rest of us. As for the ACLU, what I flush down the toilet every morning is better than the entire bunch of those idiots! We can get along without the ACLU all day long and never notice they are gone...or hopefully, run over by a bus!!

I don't recall mentioning the ACLU in the article. I DO RECALL referring to Ozzy as an "over-aged degenerate." I wasn't defending Mr. Osbourne. I was questioning the Sheriff's use of someone's name and livelihood without permission. As I stated in the piece: In a free society, the means is as important as the end where law enforcement is concerned. This is part of what separates us from the various 3rd world dictatorships in which citizens have few, if any rights.

"provobis8" posted this comment at TCV. He evidently felt I was remiss in not mentioning abortion in this article. Never mind the fact that the article was about sexual predators and irresponsible parents. And provobis8 is another one who somehow thinks I'm a liberal. No one is more amazed at this than my liberal friends. :p
provobis8 said...
Modern Day Barbarism? When I read that title I immediately thought of abortion. But then I remembered who wrote this and how in the past Burkhart was at odds with the Catholic Church which Church is first in the pro life (anti-abortion) activity, and which Church Burkhart has misrepresented in the past. I can't expect Alan to list abortion in modern day barbarism. So I guess I'll have to do it for him.
Whoops, sorry. I forgot. I'm not allowed to correct Burkhart. That would be intolerant and liberals (in sheep's clothing) are the only ones exempt from rules and criticisms they make for others.
I said...
Hm... I'm a liberal? Don't tell the liberals, they'll be offended. This is a good example of what happens to people like me who have that maddening (to some) tendency to write balanced articles. We piss off the loonies on both sides.
The process of writing balanced, well-researched pieces like this one, that piss off both sides, is known as "multi-pissing." A finished article that accomplishes multi-pissing is said to possess "multiple pisstivity."
But enough of the technical stuff. Before you continue flying off the handle about me and Catholics and abortion, how's about you do a Yahoo or Google search with these terms: "abortion" and "Alan Burkhart." A Yahoo search will yield almost 2000 hits for the pieces I've written regarding abortion.
And, the focus of this piece isn't on the unborn. It's about young children and teenagers. Do you really expect me to write about EVERY facet of EVERY topic in EVERY article? Geez provobis8, the piece is already way long. I write opinion pieces, not books.
Lastly, you're allowed to correct Mister Burkhart anytime you believe he's wrong. Just be prepared to prove it. ;-)

...May you rot in hell with the other anti-American pigs
It's rare for me to be accused of being a liberal. Most of my detractors feel that I'm some sort of crazed right-winger who eats raw meat and abuses cute little furry animals. My newest friend, Franklin, read "Another Blow to National Security" and now believes that I'm a terrorist sympathizer. We've communicated twice, and the excerpt below is from his second message.
Franklin Said (excerpt)...
...Actually, I think you are worse than a lefty, as you pretend to be on America's side. I have warned my friends and colleagues about you. And we have contacted the American Daily urging them to refrain from publishing any more of your terrorist supporting rants.May you rot in hell with the other anti-American pigs. In a just world, you would already be imprisoned at Gitmo.
Franklin Hearst
I Said...
(When I responded to Franklin's first message, I extended to him an invitation to read "Mohammed Was a Thug" as I felt this might ease his concerns. Unfortunately, he seems to feel that he can accurately judge my work and character based upon his opinion of one article.)
Mr. Hearst...
I had hoped for a civilized response from you. I see that isn't going to happen.
For two people to have an intelligent and productive discussion it is necessary for both to have an open mind. Your refusal to take a few minutes to read the article I mentioned before tells me that you have no desire to form an intelligent opinion about me or my work. You have instead chosen to hide behind redneck prejudice and childish insults. You are obviously one who chooses ignorance over knowledge. If I may say so sir, this is a cowardly choice on your part.
If this is how you choose to spend your life, then please feel free to continue. It's your life. Waste it as you wish.
Regarding American Daily, I have discussed your concerns with the Editor. He's assured me that my work will continue to appear at this fine website. I have in fact been added to the list of Active Columnists there (http://www.americandaily.com/page/columnists). Please accept my heartfelt apologies if this distresses you.

Mr. Burkhart,
You are a poor excuse for an American and a human being. The kind of views you profess do nothing but drive this country further into the fascist rathole that neocons like you have dug. May God have mercy on your soul for helping to take away the last great thing America had... our freedom.
Go fuck yourself.

Ah... another addition to the hatemail page. Thank you for your contribution.
And, it's so typical of a left-winger to spout hatred and vulgarity without providing any sort of reason for why you feel the way you do, or what you'd do differently.
And, you've no clue what you're talking about. I'm pushing 50. And I've always been a conservative - even in my youth. Now, go look up the meaning of "neocon" and see if I qualify.
But Chris...just how is it that our freedoms are being taken away by conservative views? Real conservatives (and GW Bush is definitely NOT a true conservative, btw) believe in true freedom. We recognize that our freedoms come from God, not from man, and that the Constitution was written to prevent government from infringing upon those rights.
So go ahead, Chris... Tell me how a program that allows the intelligence community to track international phone calls in which one of the numbers is suspected of being used by a terrorist takes away any of your freedoms. Think it through, Chris. Don't just answer with mindless liberal rhetoric. Give me a real answer.
I'll be here.

"...murdered by babykilling abortionists..."
This guy sure didn't take long. The article to which he refers had only been up about 2 hours before he cut loose on me. The Reverend Spitz's message comes first, followed by my response. And check "Reverend Donald Spitz" out with a Yahoo search! This guy is a nut bag!
HE SAID.....

You say it is not our place to judge others, but you sure seem to spend a lot of time judging others. It appears you mean by not judging others, those who flagrantly disobey God's laws and reject the Lord Jesus Christ. Those who save babies from being murdered by babykilling abortionists evidently are over the top as you put it.
SAY THIS PRAYER: Dear Jesus, I am a sinner and am headed to eternal hell because of my sins. I believe you died on the cross to take away my sins and to take me to heaven. Jesus, I ask you now to come into my heart and take away my sins and give me eternal life. http://www.armyofgod.com
THEN I SAID...
Hello Reverend Spitz
In regards to abortion, the only negative reference in my article is to those who bomb abortion clinics. Do you disagree with me sir? Do you feel it's okay to detonate an explosive device at an abortion clinic? In a later paragraph the article clearly states the need to educate our youth regarding the dangers of abortion and careless sex, so I must assume that you feel bombing clinics is just fine and dandy.
If memory serves me correctly, the law as set forth by Jesus in the New Testament doesn't allow the application of violence except in self-defense, and even then only when every other avenue has been explored. Bombing an abortion clinic is an act of preemptive violence, and hardly qualifies as self-defense.
And, how does one lead an abortion doctor to God if one first blows him to bits with a home-made bomb? Do you REALLY believe what you're saying here sir? Do you REALLY believe that the violent destruction of a clinic, many of which also perform legitimate health services for women in addition to abortions, is something of which the Lord approves?
You sir, are a classic example of the sort of fruit basket I refer to in my article. You are an ill-adjusted, paranoid malcontent who sees a conspiracy behind every tree. You lack sufficient faith in the Lord to see us through troubled times and have allowed yourself to descend into hatred. And as I recall, the Lord doesn't approve of hatred, either.
If you don't like what I have to say, then here's some advice for ya....
Clickest thou upon yon little "x" button, that which lieth in the upper right corner of thy web browser, thereby closing forever the gateway to the author who offendeth thee.

"You retarded fascist fuck..."
Jonathan took issue with my comments in "Will the Real Great Satan Please Stand Up?"
He actually starts out doing okay, but devolved rather quickly into more of the same old "Hate America" stuff that clogs the Internet these days. I include his rant here because of some especially disturbing comments he makes..... "just a country?"
Dear Alan
In response to your writing "I'm getting a little tired of the
mindless anti-Americanism that seems to exist all around the globe,"
then here is a suggestion:
Give up being overly obsessed with the clump of land you stole from
Natives a few hundred years ago, and then just maybe the rest of the
world won't repeatedly point out what moronic arrogant fascists so
many of you are. It's just a country for goodness sake, you are no
better than anybody else, which everyone in the world but you
realises. You seem to take such pride in helping to win WW2, yet you
were destroying everything that you now symbolise; you are no better
than Hitler and are a shame to the veterans of the war who fought to
abolish fascism.
Personally, as an atheist I fail to see the logic behind their being a
giant invisible man in the sky who sees everything I do, it's
basically some kind of ancient '1984' combined with Lord Of The Rings:
a made up fantasy in which everything is visible to a guy that people
either hate or fear. Yes, because that seems entirely logical, right?
Still, I count myself lucky to have studied several religions, and
live amongst several Muslims who would be disgusted if they were to
read your absurdly uneducated statements about their religion. You
make some incredibly presumptive statements, and do no favour for the
disastrous reputation your country has gained in the past few decades.
Islam is a peaceful religion exploited by evil misguided men. I'm sure
you would take quite the opposite stance if people were to presume the
KKK (who claim to be Christianity) were representatives of all
Christianity. Then again, judging by your ridiculously racist
statements, perhaps not.
And you say that early Muslims were raiders? Well yes, some of them
were. But does your failing education system not teach about Catholic
Crusades and repeated invasion of Muslim land in times of peace? And
the creation of the state of Israel which destroyed many Palestinian
lives? Just it seems you failed to miss that bit, as Christianity has
killed far more people than Islam in the last several hundred years.
You retarded fascist fuck, you need to take a good long look at your
life and what you stand for. And if you're Christian, you might want
to see what the Bible teaches about equality... fucking hypocrite.
You may reply if you wish, though I realise your blatant lack of
intelligence or decent knowledge might prohibit this.
Jonathan.
I said...
Hello Jonathan -
If you regard your home as "just a country" then perhaps you should do some
research and see if YOUR ancestors took from someone else the land upon
which you presently stand. If so.... will you gladly give it back? There are
no Native Americans in this context, by the way. Those to whom you refer
migrated across the Bering strait when it was still covered in ice. In
proper context, there are millions of Native Americans. All you have to do
to be a Native American is be born in America. Duh.
Destroying everything we symbolize? How? Because we have retaliated against
an attack that killed more people than the sneak attack on Pearl Harbor?
Because we choose to preempt further attacks by taking the fight to the
enemy's home turf? Because we actively seek to discover their intentions
BEFORE another attack? What would YOU do in our place? Would you just lay
down and let it happen?
I won't address your comments regarding atheism. I have a number of atheist
friends, one of whom occasionally posts at my site. We've long ago worn out
all of the arguments for and against the existence of a Higher Power and I
feel no need to rehash them with you. If you are so myopic that you believe
the wonders all about you are some sort of cosmic accident, then that's your
prerogative.
Peaceful Muslims.... Of course there are peaceful Muslims. Had you been
paying attention you might have noticed that my article referred to RADICAL
Islam, not Islam as a whole. It does so repeatedly. The teachings of Islam
however, both in scripture and by many modern-day clerics, include violent
acts against non-believers. So does the Christian Old Testament, for that
matter. If I subscribed to a hard line fundamentalist view of Christianity,
I'd have no choice but to go out and start murdering homosexuals. Since
that'd include a couple of good friends, I'll have to pass.
The KKK claims for the most part to be made up of Christians. This frankly
baffles me. The last time I checked, the Bible still states that God is not
a respecter of persons. In other words, we're all the same in God's eyes
regardless of skin color. Sorry to disappoint you, but I don't have a robe
and hood hanging in the closet of my mobile home next to the deer rifle.
As to the Crusades, you'll find good and bad on both sides of any conflict.
One cannot justify attacking peaceful people under any circumstances. That
does not negate the fact that from the time of Mohammed, Muslim raiders
attacked peaceful people all over the Old World. Should the Europeans have
just sat back and allowed themselves to be enslaved? What would YOU have
done? The first four Crusades were largely efforts to thwart Muslims who
were even then attempting to spread Islam through violence. Was there
corruption on the part of the Crusaders? Yes, there was. But that does not
alter the fact of the unfortunate necessity of the Crusades.
As to your final paragraph... You do little to enhance your credibility with
childish insults and vulgarity. When faced with a lack of facts to back up
your argument, perhaps it's best to simply leave it alone or at least do
proper research before you begin hammering your keyboard with diatribes such
as this.
Calling me a fascist, for example - where does this notion come from? Am I a
fascist simply because I point out extremism when I see it? Is it necessary
for me to bash Christianity BEFORE I write about Muslim extremists?
Christians are not the ones blowing up pizza parlors full of school children
in Jerusalem. Christians didn't destroy the WTC in 2001. Christians didn't
attack the Achille Lauro or the USS Cole. Christians aren't beheading people
on video tape. Neither are Buddhists or Wiccans or anyone else that I'm
aware of. Please do feel free to point out any present day non-Muslim
beheadings you happen to find.
And lastly, why do people like you find it necessary to reach centuries into
the past to point out the atrocities of ancient, Old Testament Christians?
I'm aware of what happened back then. The world was a primitive and barbaric
place. Oh wait! Didn't I just do the same thing?! Perhaps you simply missed
a few key differences...
1- Muslim extremists are behaving pretty much the same way now as they did
in centuries past (which is why I did the historical comparison).
Christians, Buddhists, Wiccans and other faiths almost all seek peace
through the simple act of being good neighbors. You know as well as I that a
large percentage of Islam does not support this ideal and in fact seeks
world conquest. If your country (whichever one it is) is really "just a
country" then perhaps we can just give them yours? I'm sure you won't mind at all.
2- In America, it's okay to practice ANY religion you wish, as long as you
do not violate the rights of others. In other words, human sacrifice would
be a large no-no. Religious freedom is and shall remain a key part of our
culture. That includes freedom FROM religion for folks like yourself.
3- It's not unusual for Muslim countries to arrest or even execute
Christians simply for the fact of being Christian. In other words, they're
quite willing to accept the freedom of religion guaranteed under our
Constitution. But they're not willing to reciprocate. I'll let you puzzle
through the implications of that little tidbit on your own.
Cheers

Hey racist ignorant child molesting white trash...
Angela says she's from Turkey, but lives and works here in the USA. She evidently disagreed with my comments in "Why Islam Will Never Conquer The USA" (12-16-05). Her message, followed by my reply, are below...
She said...
Hey racist ignorant child molesting white trash
I really love the way you ignorant racist bigots create a stereotype of 1.5 billion Muslims by repeating the acts of 1 Muslim over and over again. I am a Muslim. I am Turkish. I am a women. I grew up in America. I work on Wall Street in America. I visit Turkey every year. I have seen both Muslim culture and American culture. While the Muslim world does a problem with oppression of women, America is no haven for women's rights.
America has a very serious wide spread child molestation problem. There are also large numbers of incest and abuse suffered by the ""white trash of America"". Finally, The biggest dirty little secret that is so widespread it affects almost 100 percent of all working women in America is sexual harassment at work.
As a women, when I go to Turkey, I am treated like a human. In America I was fired because I refused allow a disgusting 60 year old Christian man to molest me. I was told either put up with the attempted molestation or be fired.
As a Muslim women, I am glad that oppression of Muslim women is exposed but as a women working and living in America, I wish the American media would expose the blatant and rampant sexual harassment forced on almost 100 percent of all American working women.
I said...
Let's put this in perspective...
In America, the things you describe are illegal - punishable by fines and imprisonment.
In parts of the Middle East, a father can conduct an "honor killing" when his daughter is RAPED. In most cases the father has few worries about getting in any real trouble, nor does the rapist.
I have a 24 year-old daughter whom I treasure. If she were raped, I would be at her side to offer whatever aid and comfort I can, and the law enforcement of this nation would see that the man who violated her would spend a very long time in prison.
Sexual harassment is also illegal and punishable under civil law in America. As I am unfamiliar with whatever sexual harassment laws exist in Turkey I can't comment on them. I can say that here you have the right to see the offender punished, and you can pursue monetary damages as well. You know better than I whether you have similar options in Turkey.
Your assertion that "...rampant sexual harassment forced on almost 100 percent of all American working women..." has no basis in fact. If even 50% of American women were treated in such a way, it would be a national scandal. You were correct to not give in to the old toad who tried to coerce you. I do hope that you pursued charges against him. If not, perhaps it's not too late. You know the situation, I don't.
Child molestation is not an American problem. It's a global problem. Just a few days ago a child prostitution ring was broken by American undercover police. The ring was operating in about a dozen states as I recall. Similar situations exist in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. It is Godlessness at its worst. So, we can agree that a problem exists, as long as you don't attempt to make it a uniquely American problem.
I don't remember mentioning Turkey in the article. I did mention Iran and Syria. Turkey has come a long way compared to her neighbors in terms of women's rights and freedom in general. We both know Turkey still has a long way to go before reaching a level similar to America.
Lastly, I suppose I could have engaged in name calling and childish insults similar to the ones you flung at me. But, mine would have been just as pointless as were yours. And, I did not repeat the acts of one Muslim over and over, as you accused me of doing. You know as well as I that the mistreatment of women in the Middle East is by far more brutal and certainly more widespread than anywhere else in the world. What was Afghanistan like for women before the war? The situation there, to be sure, still leaves much to be desired but women can now pursue an education, vote, work, and hold public office.... thanks to nasty old child-molesting Americans.
We are not perfect my dear, but we do our best. Just like you.
Thanks for reading my work and taking the time to write.

Hi asshole, My name is Mohammed Jawabreh...
Mohammed seems to feel that my article, "Mohammed Was a Thug" is inaccurate. I actually tried to be nice to the guy, although it was difficult. Be warned that he makes frequent use of the F-word.
He said...
Hi asshole,
My name is Mohammed Jawabreh. I just read some of the thing published on your fuckin website. You are a fuckin idiot, none of the things I have read about Islam and the prophet Mohammed that are on the website are true. Before you publish anything, get your facts straight. You are just a just a fuckin idiot.
I said...
I am assuming you're referring to "Mohammed Was a Thug." Let's consider a few obvious points...
First, you give my article added credibility with the vile and simplistic language in your e-mail. Islam is a religion based upon hatred and ignorance, both of which shine through like a beacon in your childish tirade. Careless mistakes such as "You are just a just a fuckin idiot" don't help any. Proofreading is a wonderful thing.
Secondly, Everything I wrote is true and verifiable. In researching this topic, I studied the writings of some of the world's foremost Islamic scholars. The historical account of Mohammed's founding of Islam and the events that followed is accurate to the very last word. I challenge you to prove otherwise.
Also ask yourself if your behavior towards me is proper in the eyes of Allah. Is vulgarity an approved method of communication in your faith? We Protestants prefer a more civilized discourse.
The link below will take you to one of the primary sources I used in writing the article. This is not an anti-Islam website. Anwar Shaikh presents an unbiased and factual account of the history of Islam with his own opinions tossed in for good measure. I strongly urge you to visit this site. It can only benefit you.
